CORPUS CHRISTI PARISH
East Sandwich & Sagamore, MA
BULLETIN: March 8/9, 2008
LENT
Lent is a preparation for the celebration of Easter. For the Lenten liturgy disposes both catechumens and the faithful to celebrate the paschal mystery: catechumens, through the several stages of Christian initiation; the faithful, through reminders of their own baptism and through penitential practices. (General Norms for the Liturgical Year #27).
FIFTH WEEK OF LENT
Throughout the United States, many Catholics participate in the rice bowl campaign to raise funds and awareness for Catholic Relief Services. For the 5TH week of Lent this year, all are encouraged to remember in a special way the charitable missions in Cameroon. Go to www.crs.org and explore – especially at operation rice bowl and lenten resources.
THIS MONDAY: LENTEN PENANCE SERVICE
On Monday, March 10 at 7:00pm, our parish priests and other priests from the area will be ready to hear your confession as part of this prayer service. Turning away from sins is a central part of Lent.
THIS WEDNESDAY: 104TH ANNIVERSARY
The Fall River diocese was formed on March 12, 1904. A wonderfully-written (and beautifully illustrated) book on the history of our diocese is available at the parish office.
THIS FRIDAY: DAY OF ABSTINENCE FROM MEAT (CATHOLICS 14 YEARS & OLDER)
THIS SATURDAY: ST. JOSEPH

Stewardship
STEWARDSHIP BY THE BOOK
When Jesus heard about the illness of His friend, Lazarus, He responded, This illness is not to end in death; rather it is for Gods glory, that through it the Son of God may be glorified. Every aspect of our lives – our gifts as well as our sufferings – can, if surrendered to Christ, lead to blessing for our ourselves and others.
